It's January 11th and the garden is mostly keeping itself.  Some of the roses have new buds on them and it will soon be time to prune.  It's going to be painful, but I know it's for the best.  I think I'll wait until end of January or early February, so that way my blooms last me later into the season.  This past year I had blooms all the way up until October and even now, all of them are putting out new buds and growth.

I took a rose pruning class this morning and learned quite a bit.  This will be my first time pruning the 7 roses in my rose garden so it will be nerve wracking.  I just hope they are forgiving.

While I didn't take any photos on the side of the house, the Calla Lilies are growing tall and a few have started to display their beautiful flowers.  Perhaps I'll take some photos later on.

In addition, I also have an orchid.  It looks like it's putting out spikes again.  There are 3 stems full of them.  This will be the 3rd year in a row it put out blooms and honestly, I don't tend to this plant.  It seems to be happy where it's at on the side of the house so I just give it water and leave it alone to do its thing.

Lastly, and I don't mention this as often as I should, but all of my many herbs are thriving and looking healthy as ever -- mint, lavender, sage, tons of rosemary, lemon verbena, lemon balm, catnip, cat mint, cat grass, yerba buena, chocolate mint, pineapple sage, parsley.... there are more but I will stop with just mentioning a few and close with photos of some of my blooms:
